St Michael's CE Primary

Personal, SOcial and Health Education

The school follows a scheme called ‘Jigsaw’ to teach a mindful approach to PSHE. Jigsaw is a unique, spiral, progressive and effective scheme of work, aiming to prepare children/young people for life, helping them really know and value who they are and understand how they relate to other people in this ever-changing world. This is taught once a week with time built into the lesson for mindfulness and a reflection of learning.

With strong emphasis on emotional literacy, building resilience and nurturing mental and physical health, we deliver engaging and relevant PSHE within a whole-school approach. The curriculum also include mindfulness allowing children to advance their emotional awareness, concentration and focus, bring a sense of inner peace for children.

The whole school follow the same thread of learning each half term, which is adapted for each year group.

The Head of School begins each theme at the start of each half term with mindfulness collective worships which are linked to the learning in class.
